About the Orange Knowledge Program

The Orange Knowledge Program is a Dutch global development program, available in several developing countries and managed by Nuffic, a Dutch non-profit organization for internationalization in education. Launched in mid-2017, it aims to have provided tens of thousands with the possibility to change their future through education and training by mid-2022. The program is funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Orange Knowledge Program (OKP) gives Dutch education institutions the opportunity to offer scholarships to mid-career professionals from eligible countries, to study in the Netherlands. Moreover, it is a full scholarship available to professionals working in (urban) development from a number of developing countries offered by Nuffic. Financed by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this program aims to contribute to a society’s sustainable and inclusive development by offering access to education and training to professionals and organizations.

Furthermore, OKP is a € 195 m Dutch global development and scholarships program, available in 53 developing countries and managed by Nuffic, a Dutch non-profit organization that funds education for development. The OKP scholarship is a 100% full scholarship that funds the full tuition fee and associated costs of the Business School Netherlands International Action Learning MBA as well as the Masterclass in Food Security and Masterclass in Water Management short programs.

Duration:

  • short courses – 2 weeks to 12 months; and
  • master’s programs – duration 12 – 24 months

Scholarship Benefits

Furthermore, the program will provide the scholarship recipients with the following inclusions:

An Orange Knowledge Program scholarship is intended to supplement the salary that you should continue to receive during the scholarship period. The scholarship is a contribution towards your costs of living and costs such as tuition fees, visa, travel, insurance, etc. However, you have to cover any difference between the OKP scholarship amount and the actual costs yourself.

Eligibility Requirements for the Orange Knowledge Program

Moreover, applicants must meet the following criteria below to be eligible to apply for the OKP:

  • The applicant works for one of the following types of national and/or local
    organizations: ministries, secondary or higher vocational or academic education institutions, universities, private sector, commissions, or NGOs
  • However, the applicant may not work for a bilateral or multilateral organization; a non-governmental organization that is internationally active and is focused on representing social interests, such as development cooperation, nature, and environmental protection, health, or human rights.
  • The applicant must be a mid-professional who is still in his or her:
    • role
    • multiple years of relevant work experience
    • networks within a theme relevant to local development are in a position or through his/her employer could be put in a position to apply what he or she has learned in practice
  •  The scholarship applicant must have been offered admission to study the course or program of his or her preference
  • The scholarship applicant holds the nationality of and is resident and working in one of the countries on the OKP Country list outlined above in the scholarship overview
  • Also, the scholarship applicant holds a valid identity document
    The scholarship applicant has to provide a government statement with the scholarship application if this is required by the local government (see the document ‘government statement requirement’ on www.studyinholland.nl/okp )
  • The scholarship applicant demonstrates that the requested co-funding percentage is available to fund the study

  • You need to apply directly with a Dutch higher education institution of your choice. Then, contact the Dutch higher education institution which offers the OKP qualified course of your choice for application procedures.
  • Moreover, the Dutch institution can give you more information on the various steps involved in the application and selection procedures, as well as the eligibility criteria.
  • Furthermore, you will need to provide your personal details in the application. The following are documentation requirements for the scholarship application:
    • A copy of a valid passport
    • A statement from your employer, you may be required to use the OKP format
    • You will also need to upload a statement from your government, using the OKP format as well depending on your country
